Hi, my name is Paul Hunter. If you’ve been googling, looking for help for eating disorders, then you’ve come to the right page.

I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist, CBT Practitioner and Life Coach. For the past fifteen years, I have been helping people overcome their eating issues.

If you are suffering from an eating disorder, the first challenge is recognising it. When we tell ourselves our version of “reality”, it can be very difficult to accept what other people see. In other words, if you have an eating disorder, you may not believe that you have any problem.

Below, you’ll find a list of common symptoms. Check if you do any of those.

The most important thing you can do is to accept that you need help. Once you have gotten your head around that, your first port of call should be your GP. 

I would normally work in co-operation with your GP. This ensures you are getting the best care. 

From experience, I have found that eating problems are one of the most difficult mental health problems to solve. They require commitment – mainly from you!

What Causes An Eating Disorder?

Nobody knows with any cerainty what causes these problems, but researchers have noticed some things that mean you are more likely to have this problem.

  • Were you bullied or criticised about your weight?
  • Do you “have” to be slim for your job?
  • Are you a perfectionist or a bit obsessive?
  • Were you sexually assaulted or raped in the past?
  • Did someone reject you based on your body shape?
  • Do you suffer from low self esteem?
  • Are you anxious, an overthinker or worrier?
  • Do you constantly self-criticise?
  • Are you “in denial” about how little you eat?
